I think these graffities are trying to communicate what many of the citizens already feel about their city: overdevelopment, overpopulation, and years of mismanagement and lack of consistent law enforcement have deteriorated the life quality and livability of the city.
The top photo (rotting apples) is a graffiti on Jalan LRE Martadinata (Riau Street) and the bottom one ("Who runs Bandung?") is painted on Jalan Braga.
The worm-filled apples is a strong statement, and so are your words, Eki.

You could say the same thing about Metro Manila. Or the entire Philippines, really. Sigh.

Fun to see artsy graffiti - sometimes it's difficult to understand the meaning, sometimes it's very clear!

ReplyDeleteAnd the second is universal, Eki, we just have to change the last word and replace it by the name of our country, or city ......
I like your post...the way you passed on "the information". Do their creator imagine that their graffiti is seen on many part of the world ?
