Introducing The Bandung Streets [Photography] Project

You may have noticed that I have not been posting here for a while now. No, I have not stopped making pictures and doing photo journaling/blogging about the city of Bandung yet. It's just that Bandung Daily Photo will have to wait for a while as I have more important engagements and projects to attend to. One of them is this street photography project for the 200th anniversary of Bandung.

"Bandung Streets" as I call it is a project to document life on Bandung streets as it is. It contains candid or uninhibited view of Bandung's urban environment with the emphasis of presenting the human aspect, the unseen nitches of the city, and problems that the city is facing that need to be solved soon.

The project aims to collect more than 500 photographs, of which 200 will be selected to be published in a book.

Please support this project by visiting the blog and comment.

Thank you.
Best regards,
Eki

Apology

If you follow this blog regularly, you may have noticed that in past two weeks I have missed quite a number of posts. I have also noticeably not been able to visit my friends' and my favorite blogs regularly as I used to. My sincere apology. It's been a hectic time at work with lots and lots of things to do and deadlines to meet.

It is hard to keep a blog with sceduled daily updates and have a full time and demanding job at the same time. There are times when we simply have to choose and set priorities, and for me, these past weeks (and quite probably the following few weeks) are just that. I'd love to keep on blogging and posting regularly, but at the moment, it simply is not possible. It's time to give my attention and devote my time and energy to my job and the things that have higher priorities to do.

The apology and explanation said, I'd like to asure you that BANDUNG DAILY PHOTO will keep its commitment to post high quality pictures and useful information and commentaries as regularly as possible, and that I will make the efforts to keep visiting and commenting on my friends' and my favorite blogs every now and then (rest asured that I enjoy doing this and learn a lot from your blogs).

Today's photo is still from the same place as those of the previous two post: PVJ (Paris van Java). As you may have guessed, it's the decor for two occasions combined: the Valentine's Day and the Chinese New Year. Both, as you know, took place in February.

November 08 CDPB Theme: Books - My Blogging and Internet Reference Books

These are some of the blogging and internet books I have been reading. Honesty, this kind of books never was my cup of tea. I never was interested in technical stuff simply because - I thought - they didn't contribute much to enlightening the mind. I would prefer reading literary works, phylosophical/religious books, biographies of great personalities, history books, and books about arts and photography. All that, however, changed when I got to know blogging and became hooked to it. At first, I bought and read these books out of necessity, that is to find answers to my questions and help me solve the problems I had with my blogging. Then, as I began to grasp the basics of it, I began to want more of it - not in the addictive sense, but rather because I began to see the possibilities of using the internet and blogging for my teaching, which is my job, and my photography, a hobby which I call "a love affair" because of the joy it has given me.

Anyway, this kind of books still are not the primary kind of books I would read. My home library (and my wife's and my children's), which I can proudly say quite sizeable, are still dominated by my cup of tea's books.

Just in case you are curious: How many internet and blogging books have I read? Not many. I'd say about 20 something.
