My World Tuesday: Durian Season
Picking up on my yesterday's post about tropical fruit season, durian is also beginning to appear. It's not durian peak season yet on Java island so we don't see many of it here at this time of the year, but a friend of mine on the island of Kalimatan says that it is there.

Durian, a strange looking fruit. New to me. I enjoyed your link, where it says that the durian is banned from public transportation in some cities because of its smell.
ReplyDeleteNice how they put the little vehicle to double use.
Thanks for your mango-ripening advice. In a bag of rice?? That's one I would never have thought of. :)
I have never seen Durian before. It is wonderful to learn from someone so far away - but so close (on the internet). Thanks for sharing your pictures and story.
ReplyDeletemy mother was talking about durian (one of the things she missed from Indonesia, after we moved to Holland) that it smells, but tasts good! So, get one for me:)
ReplyDeleteGosh, it would be fun to try one of those durians! How do you use them?
ReplyDeleteSome of my friends absolutely love durian. I can only take it as soft candies. And man, the smell is so strong!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of that stinky, but well-loved, fruit!

ReplyDeleteDurians are not really to my taste, but I at least have tried them. They are quite custardy in texture, but the smell is off putting!
