Al-Aafiyah Mosque Dome Interior Ornament

This is the stain-glass dome interior ornament of the Al Aafiyah mosque at Cisarua, in the northwest of Bandung. Al Aafiyah is Arabic. It means health.

This mosque was built by and is located on the premises of Biofarma farms. Biofarma is a state-owned company that specializes in producing vaccines. Established on 6 August 1890, it's Indonesia's oldest and one of its biggest pharmaceutical companies. The English version of the company's history can be read here.

BUMN Biofarma adalah perusahaan farmasi tertua di Indonesia. Perusahaan ini didirikan pada tanggal 6 Agustus 1890 dengan nama "Parc Vaccinogene. Sesuai dengan namanya, perusahaan ini adalah perusahaan farmasi yang khusus memproduksi vaksin.

Wall of Mementoes

These momentoes are the wall decoration at the Katjapiring restaurant that I was talking about yesterday. You can see there items that may remind you of your parents or grandparents' time: Old scale, china porcelain, 'grandpa's wall clock, antique telephone box, etc.

Mihrab of The Al Ukhuwah

This is the mihrab of the Al Ukhuwah Mosque whose chandelier I posted yesterday. As you can see in this picture, this mosque has wooden floor and light-structure roof.

Al Ukhuwah Chandelier

This is the chandelier at Mesjid Raya Al Ukhuwah (the Al Ukhuwah Grand Mosque) on Jalan Wastukancana No. 27.

Like many other mosques in Indonesia, the architecture of this mosque combines the Islamic elements with those of local culture, in this case the Sundanese culture. In this picture, the Sundanese element is represented by the ornamental motifs behind (above) the chandelier.

Minimalist Interior Design

This is the minimalist interior design of Baso Karapitan restaurant at Jalan Merdeka, Bandung.

One of the most prominent features of the minimalist (also called reductivist) architecture or design is, as you can see in these pictures, the emphasis that it places on the outline, or frame, of the structure and the use of colors and lighting to emphasize those elements.

Baso or bakso, by the way, is a popular Indonesian meal of meatball and noodle soup.
