Becak

A becak on Jalan Kebon Jati, south of Bandung railway station.

Becak is officially banned from many parts of the city. But in this part of the city, it is still operating.

a fine monochrome image. i know that the becaks can cause hazards on the road, but don't they also add to the character of the city?

Why are the becak ousted from parts of the city?
Is it, because they're slower than cars?
The becak is one of the things that for me belong to the Indonesian cityscape.
