Football Monument

Bandung people love football (American: soccer) and they are proud of PERSIB, their football team. To show this, the city goverment commissioned this monument called Monumen Sepak Bola (Football Monument). It is located on the junction of Tamblong and Sumatra streets and was dedicated on May 8, 1990. There is no information on the ground about who designed and created the sculpture.

I think it's great when cities have outdoor sculptures for all to enjoy!

Soccer isn't a big deal here, but it is played. Unlike American football.

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas, Eki, whether you celebrate it or not. Wishing you a joyful, peaceful and love-filled new year.

School-age kids are playing soccer more and more and I hope the professional league gets more supporters.

Happy new year.

I never learned to play soccer, but the statue makes it look fun.
