Minimalist Architecture

TANGGA DAN TEMBOK KUNING

Text and picture by Eki Qushay Akhwan

I found this interesting "design" at a shop which had just been renovated near where I live. "Minimalist Architecture" (that's what it is called here) is currently a trend in the structural design of buildings in Indonesia. This kind of design is characterized by, among others, the absence of ornate ornaments, the use of straight and simple lines and geometry, and the use of bright colors.

I don't know if this kind of design is also the current trend in architecture in other countries. I would appreciate if anyone could share with me if it is.

Eki,
Yes here in the U.S. you see a lot of this. YOur photograph is especially appealing because of the brown railings contrasting with the bright yellow. THis is a great photo in my opinion.

As always, thank you for your kind comments on my blog. I hope you will check back tomorrow. I have special series i am beginning.

I think office buildings are done in a minimalist style here too. Our courthouse is very minimalist, but I haven't photographed it yet. The art gallery has a minimalist facade, but the doors and indoor stairway rails have decoration. My Monday post showed that building. No bright colors though.

"Minimalist Art House" is what my future house is gonna be!small is OK, but clean and tidy with not too many ornaments is really me.

As far as I know (since I really interested in minimalist art), minimalist architecture had already known in many countries since 1970's or even earlier. It had been built by some people in Japan, Europe, and also US (early 1990's).

Simple way of life, murmur of silence, external sense of peace, pure harmony, cold and abstract pleasure are all I can say about minimalist art.

Ceratinly very vibrant. Vey strking image, the colours and the lines work perfectly. I would normally not go for yellow, so maybe it's your wonderful capture but It's a captivating image.

Saying that I do Like Van Gogh, Yellow chair.

I like the simplicity..I guess many things are being built that are simple and clean. I kind of like the look of the old and ornate. Just not at my house. smile..

Great symmetry and lines.

Yes, got some around these parts as well. Perhaps not in such bright colors though -- more like greys and neutrals.
