Bandung Countryside

Bandung Morning View

Text and picture by Eki Qushay Akhwan

While Bandung is a busy and bustling metropolis (it is the fourth largest city in Indonesia), the countryiside surrounding it is still basically very rural and surprisingly very close.

I took this photo at a village near Cikole, Lembang, some 17 kilometers north of Bandung sometime ago on my morning walk with some colleagues from the office. The best time to have a countryside walk in Bandung is early in the morning like this (about 5:30 a.m.) when the sun barely rises. The beauty of the scenenery covered in thin fog and the cool and fresh morning air, to me, are so inviting.

Such beautiful contrast you have with the distant mist and crisp green foreground vegetation. I wonder what is cultivated there.

wow that photo is wonderful, eki. It feels magical even. Most of my landscape photos are taken during sunset. I guess that is telling of my habit of rising late. You gave me an idea, thanks.

Eki,
I think National Geographic might be knocking on your door for this one. A gorgeous photograph. Worth getting up at 5:30 for.

I do really appreciate the image of Bandung countryside you posted on 16 Aug. I'v been in this
city for less than five years. Yet I know only a little this kind of panorama of this city.
Your work is like eyes for me on the beauty of Bandung. Thanks_Anwar

beautiful, fresh and green. Such a nice relaxation for busy workers from the city. I've been to this place for several times, followed many occasions.

You can walk up to Mount "Tangkuban Parahu" from here or you can even go left to go to Lake "Lembang", and from there you can walk very far down to "Komando" Gate and then wash yourself up at the "Panganten" Waterfall.

It's chalenging enough to do on your holiday!!!!

Yes, the scenery in the morning always looks beautiful. We can feel the original fresh air, since it hasn't contaminated by pollution around this area. I can find this beautiful view everyday, since there is still rice field in front of my house.Good photo sir.

Hello, Eki. Tks for visiting RuT. I see that you are B&W addict (a bit like me).

This countryside shot has a very satisfying quality. congratulations.

It's always good to see images of Asia / Pacific. I suppose that Europe is just as mysterious for you as Asia is for me!
